Mia Christopher is an artist based in San Francisco, whose creative journey began in childhood and was solidified during her time at California College of the Arts, where she earned her BFA in 2012 with a focus on painting. While painting remains her primary medium, Mia's artistic exploration spans a wide range of mediums, including photography, ceramics, tattooing and printmaking. She finds joy in collecting small objects and ephemera, particularly stickers, which embody a sense of tiny, joyful treasures that inspire her work.

Mia's artistic process is deeply influenced by her love for observing the world around her, from the intricacies of clouds and the vastness of the ocean to the delicate beauty of flowers in her garden and surprisingly magical colorful surprises of a lost toy in the street or a half washed away sidewalk chalk drawing. Alongside her artistic pursuits, Mia is dedicated to caring for her senior dogs, intertwining her art practice with a compassionate presence in her everyday life.

Drawing inspiration from her avid sketchbook keeping practice, which spans over 70 full sketchbooks, Mia finds titles and themes for her work within her notes, lists, and observations. She aspires to compile these sketches into books one day, sharing glimpses of her creative journey with others.

While Mia's abstract work often originates from personal and emotional experiences, serving as a means to process and heal from trauma and life events, she is more intrigued by the dialogue it sparks with viewers. Rather than prescribing specific narratives, Mia's art invites audiences to engage with their own interpretations, encouraging exploration and reflection.

In her work, a space is made for connection and discovery, where viewers are invited to delve into their own perceptions and emotions, guided by the vibrant and textured world she brings to life on canvas and beyond.
